How it all started....

My big interest has always been aircraft. Ever since my first flight in a Republic See Bee in Sweden in 1955 I have always looked up whenever I heard an airplane. I never persued my dream until I immigrated to Canada. I started taking lessons at Springbank and as TC "missplaced" my medical for a year the hours of training went up from 35 to 45. I could not wait so out to Indus I went and got my "ultra-light" permit, just to get going. Eventually I built a Challenger II in 1993 and flew it for 7 years when I ordered a Merlin kit from Blue Yonder Aviation in Calgary. It took me 16 months to build the Merlin and it was a fantastic experience. Never foget the first flight. I have flown it for 5 years now and it is the most reliable and comfortable aircraft you can think of. It's not a speed demon but at a cruise of 85 mph it is a stable and predictable aircraft. Strongly engineered in standard format I beefed it up even further. The motivation is a Rotax 912 80 hp 4 stroke engine, horizontally opposed, normally aspirated. The propeller is a Power Fin composite 2-blade, ground adjustable.
